Childhood and Play

I just had to share this since, well,  I work in a school and see examples of what it talks about every day.

It’s a thought-provoking video. I sure do agree that, more than ever before, “Children need what developing human beings have always needed….” But I’m not so sure that “children are still the same.” As infants and toddlers, maybe. But beyond that they are a product of their upbringing by parents, teachers and communities who are not the same as *they* were a generation ago. I suppose that’s because their/our generation also spent too much time in front of screens and not enough working on physical, mental and spiritual fitness. Catch 22?

We can change things if we’re of a mind to, but I wonder if it’ll take yet another generation to really accomplish. If the youth of today will have to become adults before they recognize what they’ve missed and determine the differences they want for their children.

The need for change is something to be shared and prayed about and acted upon. Thanks for posting this.
