Face of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl with April Henry

face of betrayal

Katie Converse is pretty and so talented that, at seventeen, she is a Senate page.  Everyone is shocked when she disappears while home on Christmas break.  Someone as responsible as Katie would not have  run away.  What could have happened to her?

Cassidy Shaw, a reporter, hears about Katie first.  FBI Agent Nicole Hedges investigates.  Katie reminds Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce of her sister, so she asks to be assigned to the case.  In the meantime, Allison is receiving threats to her own life.  It’s a good thing that she’s  friends with Cassidy and Nicole.  Together, the “Triple Threat Club” will solve the case!

I really like to read murder mysteries, and this one was no exception.  It was fast-paced and the interweaving of Katie’s stories with those of Allison and Cassidy worked smoothly.  Chapter titles and dates served as transitions.

The characters in this book reminded me a lot of those in James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club. Patterson’s women have a “murdertini” when they get together; Wiehl’s have a “Triple Threat Chocolate Cake.”  That said, though, I thought that Wiehl’s story moved along well, and I look forward to seeing more character development, particularly of Nicole.

If you want to enter a recipe of your own for Triple Threat Chocolate cake, you have until June 30th.  Click here to find out more.  The book can be purchased here.
