A Big Step for RJ

The son and his wife do a good job of letting the hubby and me grandparent long-distance. As I have written before, we thought we’d be living in Ohio post-retirement, but the Lord had other plans. Anyway…the grandsons are accustomed to calling us to share big news, and last night was no exception. The phone rang and it was RJ, who is five and a half.

“Grandma?” he said.

“Hi, RJ,” I replied. “How are you this evening?”

“Grandma,” he continued, “I lost my first tooth!”

The daughter-in-law went on to tell us how she pulled it. RJ chimed in with, “It hurt a LOT and I cried!”

The daughter-in-law said the tooth fell out when she touched it with a paper towel.

Grandpa and I asked RJ what he was going to do with the tooth, and he said he had it in a bag and was going to put it under his pillow.

“What will happen then?” we asked.

“Well,” he said, “the Tooth Fairy is going to come.”

“And what will she bring you?”

RJ paused. He wasn’t sure, but he told us he’d call us back tonight and let us know.

That’s a cute picture of your grandson. I hope the toothfairy pays him double for his first tooth. šŸ™‚

He got $1. The daughter-in-law reports that he is showing people his gap wherever he goes. It’s so much fun to watch the things that excite those boys!
