This Quote Deserves Some Thought

In a recent debate, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were asked what votes they would take back. Clinton responded that she was sorry she had voted for the war in Iraq. Obama said that he regretted standing for Terri Schiavo, the woman who died in 2005 of court-ordered dehydration and starvation. Here’s Obama’s quote:

_ OBAMA: “When I first arrived in the Senate that first year, we had a situation surrounding Terri Schiavo. And I remember how we adjourned with a unanimous agreement that eventually allowed Congress to interject itself into that decisionmaking process of the families. It wasn’t something I was comfortable with, but it was not something that I stood on the floor and stopped. And I think that was a mistake, and I think the American people understood that that was a mistake. And as a constitutional law professor, I knew better. … And I think that’s an example of inaction, and sometimes that can be as costly as action.”

And lives continue to be sacrificed on the altar of convienence in our nation… How long, oh Lord, will we stand for it? Tear away our apathy, and stone-heartedness, and fill us with your love!
