There’s a Contest!

And I thought it might interest some of you. I read CitizenLink, mostly to get the other side of the news, the things that the media often don’t report. It is sponsored by Focus on the Family Action, and I trust the source.

Anyway…they are having an essay contest to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Citizen Magazine. The idea is to tell in 500 words or less why you have hope for America, and the details are here. The deadline is August 13th.

I think it’s easy for people sometimes to lose hope in our country. There are gangs. Crime is up. Pollution will destroy us. And the politicians? There’s no hope there! But I think we have to remember that God doesn’t see these things the way we, as humans, see them. I believe that’s why His Word instructs us to think on “…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable…” (Phillipians 4:8). God was willing to spare Sodom for ten righteous people. Certainly there are more than ten righteous people in this country.

So…certainly, there is hope.

Sounds like a good contest. Will you be sending in a submission? I think you have what it takes to write something great and win the contest.
