A Good Way to End the Day

Lately a lot of the high school kids have been wrecks behaviorally, which tends to sort of stress the adults out. That’s why it was such a pleasure to end my school day the way I did. I held twenty-day-old Chloe and watched her sleep.

As I watched, I remembered a poem that was shared during our worship service on Sunday and I thought I would share. It is written by Russell Kelfer and appears in Rick Warren’s book THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE.

You are who you are for a reason.
You are part of an inttricate plan.
You’re a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You’re just what He wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones He chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God’s plan in mind,
And they bear the Master’s seal.

No, the trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you’d grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You’ve been formed by the Master’s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God.

Russell Kelfer

I don’t know what God has planned for baby Chloe, but I sure felt privileged to spend a few minutes of my day with her!

That’s a beautiful poem, Becky. God certainly does have a plan for every one of our lives, if we will just let Him unfold it. Hope you have a great weekend.
