The Outcome of the Lesson

There wasn’t a lesson on paragraphs. The teacher for whom I was supposed to teach it was absent today, so the kids did something totally different. Surprisingly, as hostile as they often are, today they were friendly. Maybe it’s because they get next Monday and Tuesday off.

Two girls who NEVER ask for my help did ask me today. One of them called me over from where I was talking to the other aid. She said, “Shame on you for socializing! We have work to do here, and she (meaning the other aid) is just distracting you!”

She said it with a straight face, and I just had to laugh. That lecture is a familiar one to her. It was nice to have such a light note in the day on a Friday. The kids have been sort of bonkers lately. I think the four day weekend will help us all.
