The new railroad supervisor, an old friend of my husband’s, called him earlier this week to invite both of us to the Christmas party. It was good to see the hubby interact with all his colleagues. The dinner was in the back room of a nice restaurant, and the atmosphere was festive. All the men left with a new yearly planner (in theory, the hubby won’t have a great need for his), and all the wives left with a beautiful poinsettia.
I hadn’t watched too many men retire before the hubby retired, and I didn’t like how two out of three of them reacted. I will say that, watching him last night, I feel he has “separated” well, if that makes any sense at all. He is happy, and it shows. I thank God for that! The men who are close to retirement were observing him closely. They asked a lot of questions. As usual, the hubby was a good example.
